What is fındık lahmacun?
Fındık lahmacun takes its name from its small size; fındık means hazelnut. It is made with the same thin dough and minced-meat topping as regular lahmacun, but rolled out small enough to finish in a few bites.
Because it is small, it comes from the oven to the table hot and crisp. It is ordered as a hot starter, to share, or as a light start to a meal.
What is the difference between fındık lahmacun and regular lahmacun?
The difference is size and how it is eaten. A regular lahmacun can be a meal on its own; fındık lahmacun comes to the table as a hot starter that everyone can reach for.
On the Lezzet-i Şark Gusto menu, regular lahmacun is listed with the oven-baked dishes, while fındık and ceviz lahmacun are among the hot starters.
How is fındık lahmacun eaten?
It is eaten hot, with a squeeze of lemon and some parsley. Unlike regular lahmacun it is not rolled up; it is eaten as it is, in a few bites.
At a busy table, a plate of fındık lahmacun in the middle is a good start while the main course is on its way. Ayran or şalgam is the most classic drink with it.
